Janet Ann (Zenger) Hooks was born September 10, 1949 in Larned, Kansas to James Marlin and Velma Pauline Zenger. She was a graduate of Goddard High School in Goddard, Kansas. She worked for many years in the financial services industry and later in the oil and gas business, retiring from Chaparrel Energy in 2011. Janet loved her family - especially her husband and grandkids, her pets, and spending time boating and anything else involved with living or being near the water. She was extremely proud of her daughter Tiffany and her accomplishments. Janet enjoyed having fun and could be a bit ornery. She attended Southwestern College of the Bible, now Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Oklahoma. On 8/31/1979, she married the love of her life, Wallace (Wally) Hooks. It seemed they always dreamed of living near the water, and finally they were able to purchase a home and live on Lake Hiwassee, where they enjoyed taking their boat out on the lake, skiing, fishing, and often having family and friends over for a cookout and a serious game of horseshoes. Her home was always open to friends and family, where she would be a graceful hostess. She was a die-hard OU Sooner football fan and Oklahoma City Thunder basketball fan. Janet was definitely a "daddy's girl" and often joked that she was her mom and dad's favorite child, which her sisters and brother still highly debate.

Janet was preceded in death by her father, James Marlin Zenger of Blanchard, Oklahoma; her sister, Betty Marline Hardesty of Wichita, Kansas; and grandparents, Jake and Carrie Becker of Wichita, Kansas, Henry and Lessie Zenger of Lookeba, Oklahoma; and brother-in-law Don Lauzet of Oklahoma City.
She is survived by her husband Wallace Hooks of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; mother Velma Pauline Zenger of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, Tiffany McBride and husband Jerrald of Hudson Oak, TX; grandchildren; Caylee and Carter McBride; step-daughter, Debbie Carlin and husband Rick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; step-son, Brian Hooks and his partner Scott Shoup of NYC, NY; step-grandchildren; Melissa and Blue Meyers, Clint and Janette Simmons; four great-grandchildren, sister; Sharon Lauzet of Okarche, Oklahoma; sister, Helen McDowell and husband Lee of Carmen, OK; brother, James M. Zenger Jr. and wife Rita of Briscoe, TX; five nephews; and one niece.

Janet was a vital part of both the Zenger and Hooks families and she will be greatly missed.
